CICELY TYSON
Cicely Tyson has left a mark in Hollywood with her stage presence and strong acting chops. She was a model first, but later on, she accepted work in various films. She got a minor role in Carib Gold, and eventually, in TV programs like East Side/West Side and The Guiding Light. However, it was in her performance in the Broadway production of The Blacks where she gained fame. It was also her role here that landed her big projects like A Man Called Adam, The Comedians, and Sounder.
Tyson’s career did not end there as she won two Emmy Awards for her work in The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman. She was also in the films The Help and Alex Cross. Her most recent work was in How to Get Away with Murder. Aside from having great acting skills, she also has a kind heart. One of her biggest investments was founding the Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts located in East Orange in New Jersey.
