PIPER LAURIE
Rosetta Jacobs, or better known by her moniker Piper Laurie, began her career in the industry at 17 years of age when she signed with Universal Studios in 1950. She made her breakthrough starring in the movie Louisa opposite former US president Ronald Regan. She had success in her film catalog but felt unsatisfied with her roles, so she changed to TV and theater to avoid being typecast.
She then worked on the productions of Twelfth Night and Winterset. She also made a lot of TV appearances and played her memorable TV character as Anne Mueller in the mini-series The Thorn Birds. She made huge comebacks to film with Hustler and the teen horror movie Carrie. Apart from that, she also starred in the David Lynch series Twin Peaks, which earned her first Golden Globe Award. She was honored and given a doctorate degree in Fine Arts by Tucson University in 1996 and was celebrated as Woman of the Year by Harvard in 1962.
