Ann Robinson

Ann Robinson is an American actress who is popular for her roles as Sylvia van Buren on The War of the Worlds and as Officer Grace Downey on Dragnet. She was born on May 25, 1929, in Hollywood, California. Robinson’s father taught her to ride horses, which led her to become a professional stunt horse rider. It was also this job that introduced her to the world of cinema, starting with the 1950 film Frenchie.

Aside from being cast in numerous films, Robinson also tried television and got roles in Days of our Lives and Four Star Playhouse, among others. She made use of her voice as the lead actress in the Oscar-winning film To Begin Again. Her final acting credit before she retired was an appearance in the 2005 remake of War of the Worlds. She is 92 and currently resides with her husband of more than 30 years in Echo Park, Los Angeles.
