Sally Ann Howes

Sally Ann Howes was born into a famous family. Her father was the British actor and comedian Bobby Howes and her mother was the actress Patricia Malone. At age 13, she was cast in her first film, Thursday’s Child. Her next film, The Halfway House, landed her a contract with Ealing Studios and she became a successful child actress. For her theater career, she first starred in in Glasgow in Sandy Wilson’s musical Caprice.

She later had the opportunity to work with her father in Paint Your Wagon. Howes gained more attention when she was cast as Truly in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, her biggest role. She also received a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for the Tony Awards for her performance in Brigadoon. To her credit, despite her famous parents, she worked hard for everything she has gotten in life. According to Smooth Radio, the now-90-year-old Howes is currently an artistic adviser for Palm Beach Theatre Guild.
