Mark Rydell

Mark Rydell is an American actor, producer, and director whose career began in the 1950s. His distinguished works include the films On Golden Pond and The Long Goodbye. Rydell trained to become a musician at first but had to abandon it because he did not like the culture of the industry. He then attended The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre. One of his first roles was in The Edge of Night, where he portrayed Walt Johnson.

He also played the fan-favorite character Jeff Baker in the soap opera As the World Turns. As a producer, Rydell worked on the films An Unfinished Life and A Coup in the Camelot. For the film On Golden Pond in 1981, Rydell received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. He also became a member of the Advisory Board of Open film in 2010. He is turning 92 this year.
