SIDNEY POITIER

Sidney Poitier is a former Bahamian-American actor, ambassador, director, and activist. In 1964, he became the first black male to win an Academy Award for Best Actor. As of today, he is the earliest and oldest living survivor of that award. At the age of 16, he decided to join the theatre club, and from there, he landed his first breakthrough role as a cast of Blackboard Jungle. Following this, he landed more roles, including Tony Curtis in The Defiant Ones, where he was recognized with nine Academy Award nominations.

As a renowned actor, he never needed to know about mortgage rates because, indeed, his successful career amassed his net worth. The success is evident from the recognition and accolades he received from many award-giving bodies, including BAFTA, Golden Globe Award, and British Academy Film Award. He also became a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II and served as the Bahamian Ambassador to Japan.
