LORETTA LYNN

Loretta Lynn may have married at a young age, but she was still able to rise to stardom, becoming one of America’s most prominent country singers. Armed with the guitar that her husband bought her, she played in venues in Washington. She then recorded her first-ever album, Honky Tonk Girl, back in the ‘60s. Her song, You Ain’t Woman Enough, became her first hit single and propelled her to stardom with the label of being the first woman to ever write a chart-topping song during her time. She followed this up with 16 more songs throughout her time as a singer.

She made history with her album, Don’t Come Home A-Drinkin, which broke half a million mark in terms of sold albums. Lynn was also the first woman to bring home the Entertainer of the Year Award from the Country Music Association, which to her credit, she truly deserves. Her life was made into a movie with Sissy Spacek portraying her in Coal Miner’s Daughter, where she received an award herself.
